About Hardy Machia

I am a thirty-five-year-old native Vermonter. A very common question is how to pronounce Machia. It is pronounced may-sha or may-she depending on what part of Vermont you live in. I think the former is closer to traditional pronounciation, but I might be wrong. I spent a lot time in my first few years with my grandparents on their farm which is now Poker Hill School, in Underhill. My father was in the Navy and we traveled a lot when I was young. I attended grade school in New Jersey and returned to Vermont for high school, where I graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1987. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1992.
In 1994 I returned to Vermont to start up Catamount Software.
Residency - I've been a resident of Grand Isle for the last eight years.
I live in the old Grand Isle Train Depot.
Family - My mother lives in Lincoln, Vermont and has taught math at Winooski HS for almost 20 years. My father lives in the Philidephia area, where he's lived since his naval service. I have faternal twin brothers and a sister. I'm married to Bonnie Jeanne Scott. We have no children (yet), just a Newfoundland and three kitties. (One grey and black tiger-striped young cat with white paws, chin, and belly is available now to a good home!)
Hobbies - traveling, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, archery, fishing, snowshoeing.
Music - everything from country to reggae. Bonnie is teaching me to play the violin.
Favorite Food - grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches, chocolate milkshakes, chocolate no-bake cookies, sushi, roasted garlic from SmokeJacks. I am willing to try any type of food...at least once.
