About Hardy Machia

Two-year old Hardy milking the cow with Grandpa I am a thirty-five-year-old native Vermonter. A very common question is how to pronounce Machia. It is pronounced may-sha or may-she depending on what part of Vermont you live in. I think the former is closer to traditional pronounciation, but I might be wrong. I spent a lot time in my first few years with my grandparents on their farm which is now Poker Hill School, in Underhill. My father was in the Navy and we traveled a lot when I was young. I attended grade school in New Jersey and returned to Vermont for high school, where I graduated from Essex Junction High School in 1987. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1992.

In 1994 I returned to Vermont to start up Catamount Software.
